Alot of people have made some comments about how well (or in fact not at all) the noise blanker works in the Perseus v1.0 software release.
I have made a quick recording today of the 16Mhz band which is pretty quiet signal wise BUT contains the 'tick tick tick' that a local electrical appliance makes.
It is sixty seconds long and at the ten second markers I turn the noise blanker on and off or adjust it up and down. As you will hear when you play the file back it is pretty conclusive that it does a fantastic job.
This does go to show that for all regular 'tick' and 'pulse' type interference the internal noise blanker in the Perseus v1.0 software does a fantastic job at removing the noise from the wanted signal. In the file below there is a carrier about 80db down and the noise sits about 10db higher. Which is pretty typical of the signal levels that interference normally wipes out.
